The politicians who are the legislators in the Australian state of Western Australia are proposing a new law - the Mental Health Bill , 2011 - that would permit doctors to sterilize "mentally ill" minors who “consent” to such surgery, without any agreement from their parents. This bill is a fascist bill by any standards, including the standards of psychiatry itself. However, sterilising "mental patients" is an old eugenic-psychiatric idea which was first introduced by one of the founders of modern psychiatry, Dr.Paul Eugen Bleuler, the inventor of schizophrenia, the "mental illness". He was actually the pioneer in the mass murder of over 250,000 "mental patients" during the Hitler regime in fascist Germany. Here is a pro-psychiatric evaluation of his role :
"While it may seem exaggerated, even absurd and tasteless, to compare on the one hand Auschwitz and Treblinka, and on the other the psychiatric institutions of the present day, we should nonetheless remember that psychiatric patients were among the first victims of Nazi forced sterilisation and murder, and thus that fascist Germany does indeed provide a limit case for the extremes to which prejudice against the mentally ill can lead."
(See the article with emphasis in red here added by me : http://pathwaygroupstoke.wordpress.com/2011/03/27/questions-arising-from-our-encounter-with-paul-hammersley-1-should-we-abandon-the-schizophrenia-label/).
The international drive by the Big Pharma-psychiatry combine to expand the role of psychiatry and to intensify its oppression and its atrocities is part of the drive towards global fascism. It fits hand in glove into the current imperialist domination of the world by the USA transnational corporations. It is therefore a great danger to the vast majority of people around the world.
Here is the reported view of some dissenting psychiatrists in Australia, although their criticism is very limited and only of a part of the proposed Mental Health Bill, 2011:

"Psychiatrists slate law to seek children’s consent
by Jared Yee | 17 Mar 2012 |
Psychiatrists have criticised draft West Australian laws that would require mentally ill children as young as 12 to consent to sterilisation, electroconvulsive therapy and psychosurgery. While parents may be consulted, legal experts warn that they might not have the right to refuse the treatments – some of which have not been commonly used in Australia for 6 decades – under the draft laws. Patrick McGorry, an adolescent mental health expert, said there would need to be “a very carefully argued case” for anyone under 15 to be considered mature enough to be able to consent to such treatments. "I don't think I'd be very comfortable about that," Professor McGorry told The Australian.
The draft legislation, which will be introduced into West Australian parliament later this year, is based on a decade-old review of the state’s mental health services. Prior laws were criticised for being silent on how mentally ill children should be treated. The review called for laws to be changed to take into account Article 12 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, which states a child with the ability to form his or her views has the right to express them freely in all matters affecting the child. A spokesperson for WA Health and Disability Services Minister Helen Morton said the draft bill was undergoing a consultation process and that it is likely “things will be taken out once that consultation is finalised". ~ The Australian, Mar 13 "
